The Bulldogge originated in England between 1600 and 1700. These were the early ancestors to todays English Bulldog and the American Bulldog. They were bred to participate in blood sports like bull baiting, which primarily consisted of staking out a bull and allowing several Bulldogges to attack it. People of that time got all meat from a butcher, and the butcher justified  bull baiting by stating that the meat from the bull was more tender from adrenaline flowing during the baiting. It was more for sport, in truth, than it was for texture of meat. A dog of great courage and agility was obviously needed for bull baiting. This dog back then was of medium size, not larger. Around 1835, laws were eventually passed in England prohibiting bull baiting, and the bulldogge's main purpose of existence had suddenly vanished. Within a decade, the numbers of bulldogges declined drastically, almost to extinction.

The modern Olde English Bulldogge is a reconstruction of the original Olde Bulldogge of the 17th and 18th century. Various genetic crosses have been used in carefully and thoughtfully planned breeding programs to obtain this goal. The foundation of most of today's Olde English Bulldogges can be traced to English Bulldog, American Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier and Mastiff. Hence the great color variance.

These dogs were used very selectively in various combinations to obtain the desired physical and mental traits of the original Olde English Bulldogge. The result of generations of breeding back to the English bulldog to an Oldie has been a good-looking Bulldogge of great athletic ability that is much healthier and physically fit without the problems that plague today's modern pure blood English Bulldogs. The goal of all Olde English Bulldogge breeders is to produce genetically healthier Bulldogs that are free breathers, free breeders, and free whelpers.

Our bulldogges are the result of years and generations of breeding fabulous English Bulldogs to Olde English to create an Olde English Bulldog that represents itself to be true to the look of an English Bloodline, but unfortunately with most of the same issues an English would be prone to.

We are currenty also adding English Bulldogs to our program, and the litters, when announced, will dictate which they are.

Harmolee Kennel breeds out of love for bullies, and to insure that, like us, those who want to love a baby of this breed can do have one too, which is why we accept payments and allow you to pay as long as you need. Our dogs are family. They are not bred, and then kept in outdoor nasty kennels with the puppies and mom in the elements and at the mercy of many parasites and the elements. Our dogs live stress free lives and are loved as you can see with photos, and my entire computer is filled with thousands more I haven't yet posted.  We keep photographic files of your puppy’s progress from birth, as well as our dogs' pregnancies and xrays, and you are welcome to those photos for your albums by keeping in touch with us. We also have a photo gallery of our bloodline available on CD-ROM as far back as we could trace with photos, which is available if you would like a copy.

Our males and females are on site for you to inspect yourself, unless we have used an outside breeding, in which case they are photographically easy to access and document. We are so very proud of our breed, and suggest if you do decide to breed your dog, to keep the bloodline looking the same, you use one of our preferred studs.
